Overview

Led by New York Times assignment photographer Justin Mott, this private seven-day premium photography workshop is designed for photographers who want a deeply focused, immersive experience in Northern Vietnam with dedicated one-on-one instruction.

The workshop emphasizes visual storytelling, real-world assignments, and sequencing across two distinct environments: the urban energy of Hanoi and the layered landscapes of Sa Pa. Rather than following a fixed genre or tour-style itinerary, the program is structured to encourage careful observation, intentional decision-making, and long-form visual thinking.

This is a working photography workshop, not a tour. The pace is deliberate but flexible, allowing time to respond to light, access, weather, and creative direction as the workshop unfolds.

Workshop Approach

The workshop is hosted by Justin Mott and Quỳnh Anh Mott.

Justin leads all photographic instruction, assignments, lectures, and daily reviews, drawing from his experience working on editorial and long-form documentary assignments throughout Asia and internationally.

Quỳnh Anh, a Hanoi native, provides cultural insight, local context, language support, and guidance throughout the workshop, helping create access to meaningful situations and authentic photographic opportunities.

With only one participant, the workshop allows for continuous one-on-one feedback, in-depth sequencing discussions, and personalized guidance tailored to the participant’s experience level and creative goals.
